This past Saturday, I went with members of the Central Maryland Photography Guild to Lonaconing Silk Mill. The silk mill is located in Lonaconing Maryland, not too far from Frostburg, Maryland. Although, it was a long drive and very cold inside the mill, all of us were glad we had taken advantage of this opportunity. The mill was built in 1905 and closed in 1957. The mill produced silk and rayon.
The owner of the mill said that he will have to decide, this summer, what to do with the Mill. The roof isn't going to make it through another winter. So, if you are a photographer, and want to photograph this mill, I suggest you get up there as soon as possible. There is a charge, the building is locked. The fee is well spent.
During processing of these photos, I could not decide whether I liked color or black/white best. So you may see duplicate images, processed both ways.
Enjoy the photos, located in Buildings and Monuments, Lonaconing Silk Mill.
